Fair Trade is about raising people out of poverty. The most immediate impact of Fair Trade is the money it puts into the pockets of the farmers and workers, providing clothes and education for their children, healthcare for their families and the resources to invest in their farms, and infrastructures.
Fair Trade strengthens communities. Fair Trade farmers are required to reserve a portion of their revenues for community development and educational projects, projects, such as offering technical training for the producers.
Fair Trade offers producers the opportunity to organize, form cooperatives, and represent themselves in the global trade market.
Finally, by ensuring that farmers use cultivation techniques such as organic fertilizers, natural pest control, and intercropping that are safe for the environment and public health, Fair Trade helps maintain biodiversity, provides shelter for migratory birds and helps reduce global warming.
